A relaxing mountain

I just took a break going to the mountains, to have a walk in nature, to think and to search for some fresh air, because in the city the temperature, according to me, it is still too high. Well, I found a great place in Piedmont, called Oasi Zegna, in the northern part of the region. Nice mountains with a marvellous view and some trails where to go around safe and totally in peace.

I really needed to have this day off, almost without connections with the rest of the world. The place is a natural park on the Alps, in Biella province. From Turin it is necessary to drive for an hour and a half, more or less, then you enter in a paradise. The main mountain is called Bielmonte and it offers a lot of opportunities, because there are pathways where just to walk, others where to have fun with the mountain bike or riding an horse.

There are restaurants, accomodations, spaces for workshops and sport activities, included the winter ones, starting from ski. There are also some sanctuaries where to see in interesting art, pray or just take all the peaceful atmosphere that is alway present around the churches over there. It is also possible to visit few archeological sites. Of course the park is very big ant if you want to see all you need to stay few days and move for many kilometres.

 

Since this place it is not so far I will have more chances to go there again and to describe it step by step to you, so in this article I want just to tell you about Alta Valsessera, an area lived by free deers, roes and others beautiful mountain’s animals and as well insects, as the rare protected beetle Carabus olympiae. The trails for trekking go to pastures where it is possible sometimes to taste local cheese.

A lot of panoramic points are disseminated on the way. From Valsessera the road goes to Valsesia, famous because it is close to Monte Rosa and the Unesco sites: the Sacred Mountain of Varallo and the Supervolcano, one of the 12 in the world that had an eruption of magnitude 8. I was there alone, but it is generally call the Equipe Arc En Ciel, a local organization that help visitors, in order to ask to be accompained by geologists and naturalist guides because if you have a passion for nature and geology you will have many interesting aspects to discover and to exlpore.
